Scores of individuals benefited from the free surgeries and other treatments offered during the "Ayewa Comprehensive Medico-Surgical Mission," a two-day event organized by Akin Rotimi (Jr), the representative for Ekiti-North, Federal Constituency One.
This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Nigerian Medical Association (Ekiti State Branch), and Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, took place at Ikole Specialist Hospital and Oye General Hospital.
The medical services provided encompassed a range of offerings including medical consultations, minor surgical procedures like lipoma excision, herniorrhaphies, lump excision, and removal of foreign objects from the ear, nose, and throat. Additionally, dental services such as tooth extraction, scaling and polishing were available, along with eye tests, distribution of glasses, cataract surgeries, and care for indigent patients.
Speaking to journalists in Ikole, Rotimi, who also serves as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, emphasized that this initiative stemmed from his commitment to positively impact the lives of his constituents. He highlighted that the medical outreach provided a crucial avenue for individuals who faced barriers in accessing quality healthcare services due to financial constraints.
