Shettima, during a visit to Cuba's Vice President Salvador Valdez Mesa at the Palace De Revolution in Havana, acknowledged Cuba's historical support for Africa, emphasizing their high regard for the nation. He praised the longstanding rapport between the two countries and emphasized the necessity to reinforce and expand this relationship. To explore future collaborations, Shettima was accompanied by the Ministers of Agriculture and Science, Technology, and Innovation. He highlighted the potential in the fields of Science, Technology, and Innovation, along with agriculture.
Shettima also conveyed a special message from President Tinubu to President Miguel Diaz-Canel, affirming the President's dedication to deepening their mutual ties. The Vice President of Cuba lauded Nigeria's leadership role in both Africa and the global arena, emphasizing Cuba's sincere commitment to their relationship with Nigeria. He stated that Cuba regards itself as an African State, underlining their decades-long support for Africa. Mesa expressed Cuba's readiness to explore new avenues of collaboration with Nigeria, particularly in areas such as health, biodiversity, and agriculture. He also extended gratitude to Nigeria for its participation in the upcoming Summit, emphasizing the significance of Nigeria's presence."
