President Bola Tinubu marked World Poverty Eradication Day with a significant stride towards uplifting vulnerable Nigerians. On Tuesday, in a ceremony held at the Press Gallery of the State House in Abuja, Tinubu unveiled the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer program tailored for 15 million households. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will receive a monthly disbursement of N25,000 for a duration of three months, culminating in a total of N75,000 per recipient. Beyond this, there are plans on the horizon for the launch of the 'Iya Loja Funds', an endeavor designed to extend soft loans of N50,000 to bolster small-scale traders.

Shubham Chaudhuri, the Country Director of the World Bank, affirmed the institution's steadfast support for this monumental endeavor. In tandem, Finance Minister Wale Edun unveiled the blueprint for a robust biometric auditing system. This pioneering measure will serve as a bulwark against inefficiencies and safeguard transparency in fund disbursement.
