Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni separates from partner following inappropriate off-air remarks.

On Friday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni disclosed the conclusion of her nearly ten-year partnership with her longstanding companion, television journalist Andrea Giambruno. 

This announcement came in the wake of a contentious television broadcast during which Giambruno was captured making explicit comments directed at female colleagues behind the scenes, coupled with inappropriate physical actions.

During the broadcast, Giambruno's behavior was perceived as flirtatious when he commented, "You're so clever. Why didn't I meet you before?" Subsequent airings exposed him boasting about an extramarital affair, suggesting that "everyone" at Mediaset, the TV network he is associated with, was aware of it. He then proceeded to make crass references to group activities, inviting female colleagues to join in, stating, "Will you join our group, our working group?"

In her widely shared social media posts, Meloni expressed gratitude for the years spent together with Giambruno, recognizing both the joys and challenges they faced. She acknowledged the significance of their daughter, Geneva, as the most precious outcome of their relationship.

Giambruno has a track record of making contentious statements that have captured Giambruno is known for making provocative statements that have garnered the Prime Minister's notice. He had previously received backlash for remarks that were commonly seen as placing blame on potential victims. One notable case was when he stated, "If you choose to go out dancing, it's your prerogative to enjoy a drink. However, by avoiding excessive intoxication and maintaining awareness, you might also steer clear of particular predicaments, as that's when danger can arise."

In response to the criticism, Prime Minister Meloni stressed that Giambruno's statements shouldn't be linked to her, urging reporters not to hold her responsible for his professional remarks.

In her recent declaration, Meloni openly recognized the divergence in their paths, indicating that it was time to acknowledge this reality. This choice to part ways with Giambruno represents a significant personal shift for the Prime Minister, marking the conclusion of a chapter that spanned nearly a decade and encompassed both moments of joy and adversity.
