Allegations of Betrayal: NNPP Points Finger at Kwankwaso for Kano Election Loss.

In a stunning turn of events, the Nigerian New Progressives Party (NNPP) has pointed a damning finger at Rabiu Kwankwaso, holding him responsible for the loss of Kano governor, Yusuf Abba, at the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

The party contends that Kwankwaso, a prominent political figure, allegedly orchestrated a sellout of NNPP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a bid to secure a coveted ministerial position within the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

Alhaji Abass Akande Onilewura, a distinguished chieftain of NNPP in the Southwest region, issued a strongly-worded statement to the press on Thursday, emphasizing that the party's defeat in Kano substantiates the grave anti-party allegations leveled against Kwankwaso. He stated, "This loss is a monumental setback for us at NNPP, and it is solely attributable to Kwankwaso's self-serving actions in auctioning off the party to the highest bidder."

Onilewura went on to assert that, had Kwankwaso adhered to due process and bestowed the party's ticket upon the most qualified candidate, rather than favoring his in-law, this unfortunate outcome could have been averted. Further investigations conducted by the party have revealed that Kwankwaso's prolonged interactions with the APC ultimately provided them with the leverage to exploit weaknesses in Governor Abba's position, ultimately securing victory for the opposition.

The NNPP luminary lamented, "It is disheartening that many of us poured our sweat and toil into bringing the party to its current standing, only to witness someone like Kwankwaso render our efforts futile. We take solace in the fact that he has been expunged from our esteemed party." Onilewura concluded with a stern warning to Kwankwaso, cautioning him to steer clear of NNPP affairs. The party is resolute in its determination to shield itself from potential hijacking by individuals driven by personal gain, reaffirming their commitment to the integrity of the party and its mission.
