Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State wants to work closely with the United States to help grow important parts of the state's economy. He expressed this interest when he met with the American Consul General to Nigeria, Will Stevens, along with his team.
The governor believes the U.S. is a good partner in areas like economy, good governance, security, dealing with climate change, and helping people develop their skills.
He also mentioned that Ogun State is known for its smart and active citizens who are interested in politics. People even compare the state to New Jersey in Nigeria, and it's a big hub for industry in West Africa.
Governor Abiodun shared that his team, when they started in 2019, had a clear plan. They focused on building things like roads and other important structures, taking care of people's well-being, improving education, helping young people find work, and making sure there's enough food.
They're even working on a special airport called the Agro Cargo International Airport, which will help farmers and other businesses send their products to different places.
The governor is grateful to the American government for supporting fair and democratic elections.
Mr. Stevens, the American Consul General, explained that his job is to encourage American businesses to invest in certain parts of Nigeria. He mentioned that some U.S. companies are already investing in Ogun State and they're eager to explore more opportunities.
They also discussed the tax sector, which can create jobs and chances for young Nigerians to be part of this important field. It's an area where there's been a lot of growth and investment, especially in the South West of Nigeria.
